Why Mangroves Matter: Ecosystems, Communities & Stewardship

Join us for our June Lecture at the Lagoon, where Keith Rossin will lead an inspiring conversation on the critical role mangroves play in protecting our coasts and communities. With years of hands-on restoration experience, Keith will share how these unique ecosystems safeguard shorelines, support marine biodiversity, and act as natural allies in coastal resilience.

Keith Rossin is the Co-Founder and Chief Restoration Officer of MANG, a Florida-based organization dedicated to mangrove restoration, environmental education, and sustainable apparel. Alongside his twin brother, Kyle Rossin, Keith launched MANG in 2015 with a mission to protect coastal ecosystems through their “Buy One. Plant One.®” initiative, where each product sold funds the planting of a mangrove tree.

Keith’s background in horticulture has been instrumental in MANG’s hands-on approach to restoration. He began propagating mangroves on their property, nurturing them for over two years before planting them in the wild. This meticulous process ensures the trees are resilient and ready to thrive in their natural habitats.

Under Keith’s leadership, MANG has expanded its efforts beyond Florida, planting mangroves internationally in regions affected by development, deforestation, and natural disasters. The organization also emphasizes community engagement, partnering with schools and local groups to educate the next generation about the importance of mangroves and coastal conservation.

As of 2025, MANG has planted over 761,000 mangroves worldwide, reflecting MANG’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Learn more about MANG’s mission here: www.MANGgear.com
