Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center® is counting down the days to the official start of manatee season, which runs Nov. 15 through March 31. Over the next several months as temperatures begin to drop, hundreds of manatees will frequent the waters surrounding Manatee Lagoon, taking refuge in the warm-water outflows from Florida Power & Light Company’s adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center.
On Friday, Oct. 18, Manatee Lagoon’s manatee masters took a deep dive into the Lake Worth Lagoon to remove debris from the water. Ahead of Florida manatee season, which kicks off this month, this underwater cleanup prepared the estuary for Manatee Lagoon’s gentle marine friends, while also providing an opportunity to educate the public on proper waste disposal.
Over 100 local tourism industry representatives gathered last month to celebrate Discover the Palm Beaches’ (DTPB) Travel Rally Day, an event that concludes the annual National Travel and Tourism week celebrated across the country.
